Technology I'm interested in...

I would really like to learn how to use a smartboard. I hope to write a grant this year for one, but haven't found the time yet. I observed a teacher using one in her room and it seemed very useful and was quite interactive. I hate overheads!!!! It's crazy to think that we are actually still using overheads in our rooms (some of us) when our students have always known and used much more advance technology. I would also like the clickers that students can use to answer questions. I'm not sure what the official name is, but they seem like a great way of checking for understanding. I would love to have a projector and document camera in my room too. I'm sure there is much more technology that I would integrate into my lessons, but I just haven't been exposed to it yet.

Michelle,
Like you, I have a really long wish list for technology related things to use in my classroom. I also have seen the Smart Board and I thought that it was pretty impressive. I like the fact that you can write, erase, and move things around. What a great interactive tool. I would like to learn more about using a Smart Board and the cost because I would think that they are pretty spendy! I want to learn more about documents cameras because I was thinking that they are less expensive. I think that you could still use it like an overhead except that you would write on the white board where the image is projected. Hopefully we have classmates that know more about it than we do to clue us in!!

I wonder if I would use the smart board enough to make it worth the money. I love the document camera and projectors. I think the "clickers" would be great too. It would be neat to have the kids interact during the lesson.

I think the Clickers would be awesome. There was an article in the paper today about a Green Mountain school using the clickers with great success. I plan on handing that article to my principal tomorrow. With the interactive whiteboards I like the ability to move around the class and change what appears on the screen. No more being locked to the front of the room.

You know what else would be nice I think? If each student had a computer that was linked up to a smart board so that you could do activities on. The kids could send the data to you, like an email attatchment so that you could check work and send feedback instantaneously. Who knows, it is probably invented already!

Hey Michelle,
I've heard of the Smartboard and I am really anxious to see one in action. It seems a grant may be a great way to get your hands on one. I know my private school wouldn't have the funding to supply those. I'm not sure If I would use the clickers. I think they sound fun, but it probably takes a lot of teacher training to make integrate them into your daily routine.
